Funk Guitar Chords - 027

On today's episode I’ts all about funk chords. I've been asked multiple times to go over funk guitar playing. And, I’m happy to say that today is the day!

It’s not an easy topic to just tackle in one episode. It’s a marriage of some very cool chords with some very cool rhythms. It sounds so easy, and once you get a few things down, it is.

But, to really understand what is going on you have to spend some time with chords and spend some time working on funk rhythms.

Today we work on the Chords. This is a lot of fun for me. I have always wanted to be a lead guitarist. It’s just what I have wanted to do. But, when I started playing a good bit of funk, I started falling in love with rhythm guitar. It is so fun and because there aren’t always always a lot of chord changes, it gives you a lot of time to think and try out different ideas.

Plus playing songs that people like to move to is so great! It just takes the communication between the performers and the audience to the next level.

So today, I’m going to do an overview of the most common and some specialty chords that you will find while playing funk guitar. I can’t wait.
