ABOUT PLAY GUITAR ACADEMY

I'M LEE

I've spent more than 35 years playing, performing, and teaching guitar. Play Guitar Academy exists to help frustrated guitar players stop guessing and start making real progress.

WHY I BUILT PGA

GUITAR SHOULDN'T FEEL THIS CONFUSING.

My dream for Play Guitar Academy, since 2018, has been to bring hope to frustrated guitarists who learn online.

There's more guitar information available than ever, but players are still left wondering what to practice, how to practice it, and what to work on next.

I built Play Guitar Academy to give players a clearer path forward.

MY STORY

A LIFETIME WITH THE GUITAR.

I've been a professional guitarist and guitar teacher for over 35 years.

I'm a graduate of the University of the Arts in Philadelphia with a bachelor's degree in Jazz Guitar Performance with a Computer Composition emphasis.

I've taught thousands of individual and group guitar classes and spent years performing in bands and ensembles.

In 2018, I started the Play Guitar Podcast and built Play Guitar Academy around helping players make sense of what they're learning.

FROM PGA STUDENTS

THE GOAL IS PROGRESS.

“He's the real deal. He is truly passionate about seeing you succeed!”

— Jim Lipa

“I have improved more over the past year following Lee's roadmap than I had in the previous 5 years!”

— Marty Mincevich

PERFORMING MUSICIAN

I'VE SPENT MY LIFE PLAYING THIS INSTRUMENT.

From local bands as a teenager, through jazz ensembles and professional groups, performing has always been part of my life as a guitarist.

That experience eventually included years performing across the United States and sharing stages with accomplished blues musicians. Guitar isn't something I only teach. It's something I've lived.
